TTS Launches Dedicated ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ Family Support Hub Following National Parent Survey
A new survey of over 500 parents of children with ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ has uncovered alarming shortfalls in support and has prompted the launch of TTS’ dedicated
TTS’ survey found that 89% of parents believe the lack of ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ support puts their child at a disadvantage, while fewer than 4% feel the government provides adequate support. Furthermore, 94% of parents feel overwhelmed when trying to access ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ support and only 9% feel it is easy to access the advice they need.
In response to a rising need in support for parents of children with ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ, TTS have launched a dedicated space for ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ resources, expert advice and guidance on their website, where parents and carers will be able to find content and resources to support their children at home.
Ian Mackinnon, CEO at TTS, commented:
“Our survey findings show that parents with ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ children are being left to fend for themselves and they need urgent support to give their children the best start in life.
“The majority of parents we spoke to told us that they most need to support their children’s feelings and emotions, as well as strategies to support calming and regulation.â€
Michael Surr, Head of Education at nasen, said:
“What the research from TTS highlights is that parents need support now. TTS’ dedicated ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ support will help to provide this.
“In addition, ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ and TTS are working together, using our respective expertise, to support the sector in developing their provision for children and young people with ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ, through focusing on how to achieve inclusion for all.â€
